Overview

Africa Center for Budgetary and Policy Priorities (ACBPP) is a non-profit organization that conducts research, analysis, and advocacy on public finance and economic policies in Africa. ACBPP was established in 2023 by a group of African economists, policy experts, and civil society activists who saw the need for independent and evidence-based research on the budgetary and fiscal issues that affect the continent’s development. ACBPP works with governments, parliaments, civil society, media, academia, and international partners to improve the quality and transparency of budgetary and fiscal decisions, and to promote inclusive and sustainable development for the benefit of all Africans.

ACBPP envisions a prosperous, equitable, and democratic Africa where public resources are managed efficiently, effectively, and accountably to meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

Mission

ACBPP’s mission is to produce and disseminate high-quality and timely research, analysis, and advocacy on public finance and economic policies in Africa, and to strengthen the capacity and voice of African stakeholders in influencing and monitoring these policies.

  • To raise awareness and educate the public on the importance and impact of public finance and economic policy in Africa.
  • To build and support a network of African researchers, policy experts, and civil society activists who share the vision and mission of ACBPP.

Governance:

ACBPP is governed by a Board of Directors composed of eminent African personalities with expertise and experience in public finance, economic policy, governance, and development. The Board provides strategic direction, oversight, and guidance to the organization. The Board is supported by an Advisory Council of distinguished African and international experts who provide technical advice and feedback on ACBPP’s research and advocacy agenda. The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of ACBPP, responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the organization. The Executive Director leads a team of staff and consultants who conduct research, analysis, advocacy, and capacity building activities. ACBPP adheres to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in its work.
